Scott An

Scott currently serves as a leader of one of our Young Adults CGs.

What prompted you to become a CG Leader?
The Centered in Christ CG was founded by Ken Kim two years ago as there was no young adult CG geographically located in Centreville at the time. After two years, there was a leadership vacuum and God called me to step up and serve our beloved CG. I was hesitant as I was unconfident in my abilities to lead the CG, but I knew that everything was in God's hand, and He would reign sovereign in our CG. So, here I am!

How have you been blessed during your time as a CG leader?
I have been blessed many times through the CG. My relationship with Jesus has never been stronger and everyday I am challenged by the spirit to continue to do God's will. As it says in the Bible that the weak will lead the strong, my grand vision for the CG is that every member will become a CG leader through God's guidance.

How long have you attended KCPC?
2 years. Time goes by so fast!

What areas have you served or are currently serving at KCPC?
I previously served as a youth group leader in All Stars, and I’m currently serving in the Intercessory Prayer Ministry praying for y'all.

When did you get saved and what were the circumstances that led you to Christ?
During my sophomore year of college, I was going through a variety of circumstances that led me down a spiral.  Despite going to church since I was in my mother's womb, I left the church to pursue my own dreams and passion. However, God had other plans. After my plans failed, I returned to the church in shame because I had nowhere else to go. The love I received from Jesus was so unimaginable and unexplainable. Like the prodigal son, I thought I had to prove my worth to be loved, but the fact that Jesus loves me despite my many sins always brings tears to my eyes. What a gracious Father we have!

What is your favorite Bible verse?
Matthew 6:33-34: But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

What are your spiritual gifts?
Teaching! I have a huge passion for teaching everything I know. What good is knowledge if I keep it to myself? I'm always willing to talk about Christ and teach what He has done for me.

What is your favorite restaurant?
District Chicken and Gyro (DCG) in Tysons

What is your favorite dessert?
Wildberry Crumble ice cream from Mitchell's (local in Cleveland). I eat it twice a day whenever I'm in Cleveland.

What are your hobbies and interests?
Volleyball, pickleball, golf, snowboard, anime, and video games. I'm always willing to learn something new!

Tell us something unique or funny about yourself.
My left foot is bigger than my right foot by half an inch. It's always so frustrating to buy new shoes and having to find a good compromise for both feet. Also, I almost drowned during my baptism.

What was your favorite song in middle school?
Last Farewell - Big Bang  B TO THE I TO THE BANG BANG

If you could time travel, would you rather go to the past or into the future? Why?
I'll answer this question after I time travel to the future.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Korea! Despite being born there, I've gone back to visit only once in the past 23 years.

How can we pray for you?
Please pray for my beloved members in the CG!! Please pray that we continuously grow together and in Christ. We have some members that are transitioning careers or in school so please pray that God will provide them new jobs. Pray for healing as our CG members are either sick or have family members that are sick.
